Breast reconstruction is perhaps one of the most rewarding plastic surgeries patients receive today. It is defined as the surgical creation of an absent or deficient breast. Breast reconstruction is an option for women who have had breast surgery for cancer-related, congenital or traumatic breast deformity.
We work with patients from throughout the area, many of whom were treated for breast cancer by Dr. Denise Mammolito, who is with our affiliated practice, Peoria Surgical Group. This continuity of care and convenience of one centralized location provides patients with extra comfort throughout treatment.
The physicians at Illinois Plastic Surgery are keenly aware that this is a very personal issue, and they will consult with you to provide advice on the best method for your reconstruction. Artificial implants, skin expansion, free TRAM flap reconstruction, and DIEP (Deep Inferior Epigatric Artery Perforator, microvascular) are some of the techniques used to restoring a natural, more balanced appearance. More information about the various options may be accessed from the menu near the top of this page.
