Education and Experience
Dr. Whitty was born in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from John Dewey High School. She received a B.A. degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a doctorate of medicine from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. After completing her general surgery internship at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Dr. Whitty went on to finish her general surgery training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP). Once board certified in General Surgery she went on to complete a hand surgery fellowship at Hartford Hospital (University of Connecticut), followed by a plastic surgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
After a positive experience working within the Peoria medical community during her general surgery residency, she chose to return to Central Illinois, where she will once again work closely with her colleagues from UICOMP and Illinois Plastic Surgery. In addition to seeing patients at IPS, Dr. Whitty serves as Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, at UICOMP.
Achievements and Expertise
During her training, she received awards for Resident Teaching, Case of the Week and Rotator of the Year. She has co-authored a number of medical publications and given regional and national presentations on a variety of plastic surgery topics such as body contouring, traumatic facial fractures and hand surgery.
Although Dr. Whitty performs a wide range of plastic surgery operations, she has a special focus on reconstructive hand surgery, body contouring procedures including abdominoplasty (tummy tucks), breast augmentation and breast reduction. She also offers minimally invasive treatments such as Botox®,, Restylane® and Juvéderm™.
Outside Interests
In her spare time, Dr. Whitty and her husband David enjoy traveling, religious studies, jogging and cooking. She is also a collector of fine art and literature.
