Education and Experience
Dr. Elwood is a native Peorian and attended the University of Illinois where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. After receiving his doctorate of medicine from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, he continued there with his residency in both general surgery and plastic surgery. He completed a fellowship in craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Elwood is currently the Division Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP).
Cosmetic and Reconstructive Expertise
Dr. Elwood has authored publications on a variety of areas including craniofacial anomalies and breast reconstruction. He has given presentations on reconstructive surgery, pediatric plastic surgery and breast surgery (breast reconstruction). He participates in community outreach programs in hospitals throughout Illinois. Dr. Elwood also performs cosmetic procedures including breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, liposuction, rhinoplasty, Botox® and Restylane® injections.
Family and Interests
Dr. Elwood resides in Peoria with his wife and children.
